How To Install Windows 10: Tips and Tricks

Regardless of the version, whether you want to upgrade or install windows 10 on your PC, there are a variety of ways you can do so. So hang on and read in complete detail.


Installation Guide


Phase 1 – Enter PC’s BIOS

  • At the very first stage, just make sure that your computer is set to Boot from the DVD or USB.
  • Insert the USB or DVD Installation disk and restart your PC.
  • There is a special boot override menu on your PC which can be accessed with a Key F10 and there will pop up a message while your computer starts.
  • Now Press the F10 key as soon as the messaged is displayed and select your DVD drive or USB to boot.
  • In case you don’t have a boot override menu, go to BIOS or UEFI Setup Program where you can find more customized options.
  • The right keys vary PC to PC but these are usually Delete, F2, & F10. You need to enter the key according to your PC and need to immediately press it when you turn on or restart your PC.
  • There are relevant keys displayed on the screen as you turn it on. But look carefully.
  • In modern systems, there is a Special Button for the Setup Program placed next to the power button.
  • There are all options regarding look and layout which you need to look carefully.

Phase 2 – Boot from DVD or USB

  • Find the Boot Section in the setup.
  • Now depending on your installation media type; DVD or USB; set Change the Boot Order to boot the device.
  • In case you are using a USB flash drive, go for Hard Disks as bootable USB flash are listed as hard disks.
  • You need to set the hard disk as the First Boot Option.
  • Put your USB boot disk at the top of the list in the Sub-Menu of the hard disk boot order.
  • Now look for the Save / Restart or any other equivalent option.
  • This will start booting your PC into the Windows 10 setup program.
  • At this stage press any key to boot from USB.

Phase 3 – Clean Install Option

  • At this stage, you need to set up your preferences for language, time, currency format, and input method.
  • Click next.
  • Click Install Now
  • Enter the Windows Key.
  • Read and accept the Software License.
  • Select Custom Install Windows Only in the next section.

Phase 4 – Get a Windows 10 License

First, you need to get a Windows 10 license on your PC. You can do this in the following ways:


  • Purchase license from Microsoft: In case if you’re new to the PC world and don’t have an operating system yet, then you can simply purchase a Windows 10 license from Microsoft. This method is also applicable to the prior versions.
  • Purchase license from Windows Store: Another option is that you can purchase the license from Store within Windows 10 and turn it into a licensed Windows 10 PC. This procedure is also convenient to test the Windows without purchasing it.
  • Buy a new PC with Windows 10: When you buy a new PC with installed Windows 10, it surely has a license key attached to its UEFI firmware. The manufacturer already paid for the license key and you don’t need to purchase it. You can simply reinstall Windows 10 on PC without the key. The license key embedded on a chip on the motherboard will be used by Windows installer for activation.
  • Don’t get licensed: There is another way through which you can install Windows 10 without the product key. There will be Windows 10 activation notification but regardless of this, you can still use it with full advantage.

Phase 5 – Select Hard Disk or SSD

The coming screen utterly depends on the type of installation device.


  • If you are using a blank disk then there will show a drive with Unallocated Space. Select it and press the Next button.

This will start the installation process.


  • The second option is that there could be Multiple Hard Disks or a disk with already has an Operating System on it, then there will show a screen with many disks and partitions.
  • Disks will be called according to their number. Such as Drive0, Drive1, and so on.
  • For a disk with previously installed OS will be split up in partitions named under System, Recovery, Primary, and MSR.

Note: Delete all the partitions file before the installation process begins. Have a backup of all these deleted files and make sure to delete the partitions from the correct drive.
